A bit of a scene that would have fit into THE POWERS OF TWO fanfic...if I hadn't lost so very very much on a crashed hard drive.
Doctors Two and Eight are banding together for a problem, both of them juxtaposed with their unique problems with memory.
I have long wished for a fanfiction or (as long as we're dreaming) a series episode where Eight gets much-needed counselling for his recurring amnesia by Two, the Doctor who had to carry around his predecessor's 500-year diary with him wherever he went to make sure he didn't forget anything important.
"I wish I could remember you better," The Doctor said, frustrated.
The little Hobo smiled, and in the planet's dying light his weary chameleon face shifted and collected the shadows of the softening darkness.
"It's not your fault, lad." He said gently. "Most of you forget me...in time. Why, I was barely a memory at all by the time that Multicolored Poet came about. It's nothing to worry about."
The Doctor frowned. "I'm not sure I believe that. You are me. I should remember me."
"Remember or forget what you choose." The little Time Lord lifted a warning finger. "What really matters is who you are, right here, right now. I'm your past, boy. But you are the future." And he smiled. "I'm proud of you."
